Sub issues
Sub issues
Hi all
Ive been having an issue with a sub. It was working great for about 2 weeks. It is rated at 350 watts rms and Ive been sending it about 300 watts. Its in the manufacturer specified box and is dual 2 ohm voice coil. I noticed an odd "plucking" sound coming from the woofer during bass beats. I thought at once that it was a tinsel lead touching the back of the cone. After removing the sub, I noticed that the tinsel leads are sewn onto the spider, so thats not it.
So after reinstalling the sub and playing it for a bit, I also noticed that if I gently place a finger on the surround, the sub would cut out. After lifting my finger, the sub would continue to play.
I measured the impedance of the 2 coils and noticed one had risen slightly.
So, car audio gurus... what could be the problem?
