My setup has 2 type R's in a 1.7 ^ 3 box tuned to 32hz. I took this from my sunfire and put it in my 93 civic hatchback. Since the move i noticed a loss in lower end bass, i just dont feel or hear it anymore. I know the interior acts like a box (since i dont have a trunk anymore). Should i be tuning to a differnt hz? or is box size my problem, currently the ports face up and the subs rearward.

You should try experimenting with box position and see if it helps - try ports back, subs up for starters... if all else fails, build a bigger box; 4-5 cubes tuned that low would probably sound a hell of a lot better.

 

I was thinking about sub poistion, only problem with my current box is the box is too large for my hatch, when i face suubs up, i cant see out the back window... Plus the box is nice and visible for thieves.

Would i typically need a bigger box, cuz i know have more air to push?

 

you need a new box custom built to fit the hatch
properly..

 

And for music I would consider having your ports and subs firing the same direction to avoid cancelation issues.

 

Provided you are providing the same power to your amp as in your previous car, then you need to tune for your new car.

Each car has different characteristics that change the way an audio system sounds.

 

Best i find for civic HB is subs and ports straight up or subs up, ports toward hatch. and just like smoke said each car is different and test and tune is your best friend. if your doing the box yourself use pvc pipe for your port and shorten or lengthen them as you work on it and find out what best sounds good to you and that will help with tuning.
