I second the pioneer deck suggestion.

I got mine off of ebay for around 120 shipped.
It was the DEH4800MP. It had enough features, and I loved it for its price.
Ebay is the way to go for cheap car-electronics my man.
Thats unless you're into competition grade.

alright sweet thanks guys i'll grab that deck and a cap this weekend, Im just going out now to borrow the tablesaw for the box construction this weekend. I decided not to make the speakers face inwards as the volume of the enclosure was too high, but everything is still tilted back.

I will be in the market for some decent 4"/3.5" and 6x9 speakers in the near future if anyone has anything available.

I'll put some pics up on sunday/monday.

cheers

I would skip the cap. It's only a bandaid for voltage drops. It doesnt help your electrical/charging system whatsoever.

Get a new battery, do the big 3 and possibly get a high output alternator.

Silicone fumes can be hazardous to subwoofers, but only while the fumes are actually there. After applying the silicone, you'll have to wait 24 hours with the box in a well ventilated area for the silicone to set and the chemical reaction to stop so the fumes stop being produced. I use Silicone for my projects when MDF is in use.

i talked to the guy at the audio shop nearby, he thinks my current alternator will be up to the task.. just replaced it, 87 olds with a 2.8l and the new alternator came from a 91 or 92 i think. I'll try it without the cap and see how things go, replacing the alt and battery arent an option as this is just a daily driver and i'm done spending money on this car haha

ordered the pioneer deck last night, should be inbusiness by next week!

cheers,

Dalton

Don't buy a cap, do buy a better battery, run 1/0 ga wire to help compensate for voltage drop, run a 1/0 ground back to battery if money allows.

hey, the box is done and everything is in place, just need to wire it friday night after work. Put in the new deck tonight, and of course blew out 1 of the shitty princess auto speakers which were temporary anyways.

So I'm in the market for a pair of 4" and 6x9s, if anyone has any suggestions about what would be a good match to the deck that i linked to earlier, or has any sets for sale, let me know!

I'll post pics friday when im done wiring.
