I have a feeling my amp (Kenwood KAC-7251) may of overheated this weekend. Yesterday when I turned my stereo on it would work for a little while and then shut off. Shut the stereo off and turn it back on and it would work for a little while again. Well today I had forgotten about that and driven to Chilliwack and the stereo worked fine for about 1/2 hr or so and then the subs amp stopped working again. I stopped in at my fathers shop and unbolted my box in order to get access to the amp to see if i could find the problem. Well when i give the stereo system power now, the blue light on the amp turns on and then blinks a couple of times and shuts off, sometimes i'll get a bit of sound from the sub, but most of the time i get absolutely nothing. I can still hear the fan running though (i don't think its the fan from the other amp which is powering my interior speakers.) I had my system professionally installed in order to avoid these types of problems, They had bolted the amp to the back of the box, between the box and the back seat, so it would defianetly get warm, and today when i made it to chilliwack, the amp was really warm. And now its not working at all. Would you say that most likely the amp is fried and i'll have to go out and get a new one, or being that the amp is only 5-6 months old it may be a warranty issue, and be able to be replaced.

Check the impedence of your subs with a DMM.

Then see if the amp turns on with the subs unhooked.

It sounds like your amp is going into protection because of a problem with your subs or things are getting too hot.

You might even take it back to the place that installed it and have them look at it for you. I do not see any reason why things would not be covered under warranty unless 'abuse' is obvious.

i just switched out the amp for my trusty ole clarion. subs seem to be working now. when i hooked it back up with just the power, remote and ground, it turned on for a sec and shut off again and blew the fuses... but my clarion is working good, so i'd guess its the amp...
