trunk... problem with leaks?

is there an easy way to make sure no water gets into a trunk before you install in it?

also should i use dynamat or brown bread or what.. its a cutlass ciera and i've read that the tail lights buzz like crazy. any good solutions?

Gut the carpet and all the other junk out of the trunk. Look for any drip lines and follow them back to the source. Also, any plastic inserts from the outside, bolt holes, plastic inserts, etc, etc, seal them up with silicone. Next, check to make sure your rear window isn't leaking. Lastly, make sure your trunk gasket is not ripped, hard as a rock, etc and that it functions properly. Also good if the trunk lid itself when closed matches the gasket and compresses it.

Tail lights are often in the drip path so make sure the gaskets are good and the lens's are securely compressing them. Also sunroof drain lines can be routed to the trunk (prior to dumping outside the car)

That is bad Dave since many gaskets are coated lightly wih silicone grease (prevents rot, aids installation, water proofs for a little while). Silicone is not allowed in many industrial plants because of its interaction with electrical circuits
