what amp for my sub

Or are you recommending this in case I want to upgrade later on? (and then could use the 2 channel amp elsewhere)

If I use a single channel amp but am using it for one 4 ohm speaker, I'm not using the amp to it's full potential, since I would be better off driving that one channel amp at 2ohms. So by getting a 2 channel amp, I could set it up as 4 ohms mono and make more power.
At the same time, wouldn't I be putting less stress on the amp if I had a one channel amp and was running it at 4ohms. In my previous system I had a nice Orion 222sx amp and was running a pair of 6.5" subs off it, but because we were running it at 2ohms mono (I think) the amp was being pushed too hard and would often shut down if I had the volume up too high for too long. It was quite annoying.
So even if I'm not using a mono amp to it's full potential, it might be the better choice for me based on that.
