Where is the best place near Calgary?
#1
I'm looking for a shop with an RTA and a good understanding with what to do with it and my system in the form of tuning. I live in BC but can get to Calgary if need be. Anyone have a recommendation for me?
Thanks in advance.

I have actually have been thinking of buying an Audio Control DQX mostly for the digital x/o and the 30 band eq I thought would come in handy. But after just reading the 'final DQX test' in the 'General SQ'
section, I may be only needing a good 3-way x/o. You see I have a Pheonix Gold XS-6600 (6 channel) which require these ridiculous resistor networks (ICs) that are almost non-existent. I realize that custom loads are as simple as doing a little math to find the value needed and fitting in individual resistors (24 individual resistors)... Well, I have tried that. The job is very awkward. The resistor leads have to be cut so short and bent that they are very difficult to install into the provided IC sockets. I have scoured the electronic supply companies and have had some luck obtaining a few different values, but for me, it's a trial and error process. I guess I'll have to admit, I don't know what I'm doing! I thought a variable x/o would do the trick. That way when I finally get the thing to a good shop they could easily repair the mistakes I have made. If you are interested, I can give you a short description of my system so far and the ride that's it's in. Maybe you can guide me to someone who can relate.

We should talk first... I wanna know that you understand my system and what you are getting into...
As for the fee, if everything works out, you buy it & I'll pay for it (there is a limit though)! In the next few days I'll discribe my system to you.

nelsondog,
As the person that wrote a fair amount on the above mentioned post, I can would endorse the DQX in all but a select few systems.
It is a very good EQ and Cross Over in one box. Don't discount it until you've used one. I'm a picky customer with incredibly high end gear in my car. My next processor will cost MANY times the cost of the DQX. That's what it takes to move up a little bit in SQ. For the average system, the DQX is more than enough.
I have access to a high end home cross over, and it currently is NOT in my car. (even though I have a 120 volt converter in my trunk) You will be very hard pressed to find a better X.O. and EQ combination with similar features for the price of the DQX.
I suggest you contact Audio Concepts Mobile in Calgary, they've even got a few customer cars with DQX's in them that you might be able to hear. Give them a call. To date, this is the best shop that I have ever set foot in...and I travel a lot. (I'll be in Calgary for stampede)

Do you think you might be able to predict the result if you knew all the components in my system? Well there's the PG XS-6600 amp. I have a Denon DCTR-1 head unit. Tweeters are Dynaudio MD-130s mounted at about knee level just beside the kick panels, mid are Dynaudio MD-160s in stock speaker locations on 3/4" mdf panels and subs are Infinity Kappa Perfect 10.1Ds mounted in a 5 sided (behind the seat inside the cab of my pick-up, the back wall is used as the 6th side of the enclosure) sealed cabinet with a volume of as close as could get to .69 c/f each. And of course I mentioned the DQX as maybe playing a part in all this. I can send photos of anything you may be interested in. So what do you think?
