Wierd Problem
Wierd Problem
I just installed a deck into my trans am, which i've never done before, and everything seemed fine but all of a sudden the sound cut out. The deck was still on and the cd was still playing but no sound was coming out of the speakers. I restarted the car and the sound went on again but only for about 15 seconds. This just keeps happening now.
I'm really frustrated right now, any help would be greatly appreciated.

sounds like it might be a bad ground connection.
i would check that first and see what happens.
I can't seem to find a bare metal piece in my dash, but i bought a Scosche factory wiring harness and it says one of the wires is the "Chassis Ground (12-)". I've also been experimenting and i found that it will keep playing as long as you don't turn the volume up past 17, which isn't all that loud.
I'm not sure if the original unit was a bose it is just the factory stereo for a 93 trans am that i took out and a clarion is what i just put in.

Nope it is just a factory delco system (gm brand). I've pretty much narrowed it down to a wiring problem with the speakers because 2 of the speakers (one in back seat, one in trunk) haven't worked since i got the car and one of them (other side back seat) was very quiet. I bought 6 new speakers today to replace everything and the one in the back seat that didnt work still doesnt work even with a new speaker, and the other is still quiet. I'm guessing the amplifier in the head is shutting off because of a short.
Anybody have any ideas on where I should look first for faulty wiring, or some sort of tool that measures how much is going through a wire?
