Wierd Problem

Sounds like you've got a short in one of the speaker wires, and the deck is shutting down the internal amplifier to protect itself. best bet it so run all new speaker wire.

So im guessing the stock stereo didn't cut out because it didn't have a mechanism that shut it off when there was a short?

did the car have a premium sound package if so there is an amplifier in the car and you have to buy pass it or crazy happens i did an I-roc had to bypass it myself.

I doubt it would be premium. It is just a delco (gm made) sound system.
