I am a voodophile I think wire can alter the sound of a system. If this is true then it must also be true that wire can only degrade the signal not improve it. So wire should be kept, from my altered point of view, as short as possible. In a car I generally keep enough extra wire in the system so if I do my biannual rebuild I will not have to rewire for a while.

10 ga is cheap enough buy extra and cut off what you don't need once you have run the wire.
X </font>
I will assume that you are just making a joke here XiphOid, but it is in rather poor taste. This topic has been beaten to death -- leave it be -- if you can't hear these differences then pocket the cash and consider yourself lucky.
As for those of us who (admittedly, think we) can -- we will continue to relish the enjoyment that better-reproduced music brings, and curse that our search for sonic nirvana may never end. In truth there is a subtle element of masochism in this search -- if you just choose to forget about the potential for small improvements via things like cable (as I now have, for the moment, in my two car systems) life does get easier... PS: is there not an element of irony in the fact that both of you gave the same answer to the original question? </font>
No irony at all.
He'll waste 100$ on some crap and I'll spend 10$
Remember this is to the SUBWOOFER.
Not some high end component speakers.
Thats if there is indeed some sort of difference.
I would like to add the only reason I suggest short wires is for cost and cablle management issues.
Crap we got like 10' of speaker wire in our SPL car for a 2' run! Just makes it easier to change stuff and it does not affect SPL.

the volt drop aint "jack" considering. better to be 2 foot to long rather then 6 inches to short. you can debate the science till the cows come home but any loss would be almost immeasurable (unless you run hundreds of meters lol.)
