Wiring for RF T5002 & Sub suggestion
Wiring for RF T5002 & Sub suggestion
Hi all
Just researching the optimum wire size for my amp, I see in the manual it states it will take a 1/0 gauge, on another spec sheet it states a 4 gauge minimum.
Anyone suggest the optimal size? Should I go with 2 gauge, or will 4 suffice?
Also, can anyone suggest a good supplier of power wire in the GTA?
I would also be in need of a fuse, I think it should be a 100A, as stated or should I go higher?
Last but not least, can anyone suggest a good sub to run off this? I was thinking a JL 12W6V2, the 12W7 is a lot of $$...
Thanks for your input!

A single sub? 12"? what sort of space do you have for the box? Who is building the box? After lots of bass? What kind of budget on the new sub? Lots of questions before one can zero in on a sub recommendation.
Thanks veeman and MR2NR
Cool - Yes it is a single 12", the box is a 1.9 cu ft Bassworx ported box - model GPH12BK If I need to get a new one, I can hand that one to put in the wife's car and start fresh. It is going into the back of my 2001 VW GTI.

Just my $0.02

I too would forgo the prefab box and the mediocre results that it will deliver. Would it be enough for you, chances are yes. Will the results be superior if you go custom, definitely. Chances are that 4 gauge will be more than ample for you. Use 0 gauge IF you plan on upgrading later on.
Before I start looking for subs, how much output are you looking for? Lots of bass or just enough to balance with the rest of the car? Good tonal accuracy or just plain loud?

Thanks guys!
I don;t plan on going further with the build up, so I guess I can go for 4 gauge, should I even consider 2 gauge?
As for the sub, I don't want to take up too much space, but I like to feel it. I like it when It's clear, but if I want to crank it my vision gets blurry - that kind of hit...
I don;t want to spend an arm and a leg, I was looking at the JL 12W6 or W7 but those are really pricey, plus since I am looking at a custom box now too...
Also I am not currently running an amp for my mids/highs - I have a Pioneer DEH 80MP currently. It seems to do the trick when tuned appropriately.
What kind of $$ am I looking at for a custom box - and sub suggestions?
Cheers!
