looks good, from looking at this pic I'd say as long as you have a fender liner back in there you're pretty safe from hydro lock
I was gonna throw a CAI on my car But I was worried about hydro locking because of how close to the road the CAI's sit in jetta's
so after some research I put in a drop in AFE and did that mods I found here
only I used black pipe, you can't even tell it's not factory unless I point it out
the stock vw airbox is pretty good anyways and according to the data logs a lot of guys have run a 2.5" CAI(common size) on a 1.8t runs about 165g/s of air through the maf (stock box/filter runs 150g/s)
the airbox mod I made has been found to run 175 g/s
it cost me less than a hundred bucks it looks stock (wich I like BTW)and is still factory quiet (that part I'm not so keen on)
although somedays I kinda wanna buy a K&N typhoon kit
then I'd get that cool turbo whine

the K&N looks good to me cause it has a waterproof filter cover and can be converted to a short ram if I want to for winter time.

yeah that's what I was going to add.... it sits right below the headlights.... and far enough above the ground that nothings ever going to touch it..... I was also lookin at that K&N air filter cover.... but meh.....
