Depends on which way you look at it.. If you have the 3.8L spec'd out the same as the grand national you now have a Cavalier that does the high 13's in the 1/4 mile.

As far as who will do the computer mod i know of nobody down my way..

It was a joke but..

I'll point out a dumb idea regardless of the poster

and..

I would propose that if I came to the board wanting to do something of this nature that the peanut gallery would certainly speak up as well
</font>
Well, I would definatly point out that dumping a 426 in your NEON would certainly be stupid, but a 3.8 in a cav would be the perfect sleeper. and it's not too much work when you have a welder and too much spare time.

I didn't however, know there was a direct bolt-up kit for the 3.4 THAT would certainly be interesting but I think the 3.8 is the way to go for me. It'd likely not be a Grand National spec motor, more likely a newer series 2 with a supercharger already attached and I'd do mild cam and headers as well as dual exhaust to make it worth the effort.....also I think the Muncie 5 speed would be in order.

I've heard of guys doing it and running some pretty sick numbers in the quarter mile.....I just want something that nobody would ever expect. Like a green Cav RS with nothing out of the ordinary except a deep exhaust rumble that smokes mustangs and Ferrari's

and get smoked by some guy with a 3.8 Cav?

I don't like TA's or Fire Chickens or Camaro's.

Besides, I have a motor I can pick up for 200 bucks that runs.....comes with a Buick Park Avenue that's totalled....but it's got a supercharger and the muncie automatic.

Actually the 1979 TA with the 400 was not much of a 1/4 mile stormer nor did it have massive torque numbers. The potential is there but it was choked to allow it to pass emissions.
Lot's of experience with these F-bodies as well as the 400ci.

Could it be made to run stronger? Of course. But we're back to what Brandon is in the course of doing.......modifying.

Whether you're modifying a VW bug, a Chevrolet Cavalier, a Toyota truck, a Honda Civic, or a Dodge Duster, to each their own. Leave it at that.
