you support scanjet....hmm maybe you can tell me why my hp4200c scanner will not work no matter what on my computer!
worked for a while on my pc...then i think we had a power surge/outage hasn't worked on my pc since then, the computer will recognize as soon as i plug the usb cable in and i can install the drivers-but when i try to scan a file the status light turns orange and never go's back again, unless you unplug and replugin the scanner. i've switched usb plugs to make sure it wasn't a usb port....both work with other devices...i've tried the scanner on my brothers computer and it works there with no problem.
But on mine for the life of me i cannot get it to work properly! It pisses me off so much that i'll probably sell it...damn thing!
on that note, the front display on my samsun A540 cell phone appears to have broken inside the phone, as i have a big black hole on the display yet everything around it works. piece of ****, thats going off for warranty. If thats not bad enough i've had some messed up calls at work today. I'm one of ummm about 120 people in my center in edmonton supporting comcast cable internet - luckily they put me into aux 6 so i don' thave to take any calls for a bit until they tell me otherwise...and now it's break...see ya in 15!

Check the usb chipset on ur PC, there are known issues with certain ones, I.e Via, Sis7001, ALl, certain intel chipset, goto hp.ca and in the search type this in bpu01860 that should bring up a public document stating how to check your chipsets, if intel just try and change to standard chipset, if it's working on another pc just fine then issue is your pc or the power source your using try pluggin in scanner direct to wall no power bar, if not might just have something corrupt in registry.... let me know how it goes i might be able to send ya few documents to get ya going....

hmm i'm not home right now...chipset is doubtful - it used to work on my pc-which is a celeron 400 still works on my bro's pII 350 and worked on my moms p2 450 flawlessly - granted mine is almost guaranteed to use a different chipset from those!
It most definitely is plugged into a powerbar and you'd think i'd know not to since, i tell people all day to plug their modems directly into a wall outlet or it might not be getting full power. But that being said, it was always plugged into a powerbar before.
Corrupt registry...now that does very much sound like a decent possibility! I've uninstalled it and reinstalled it a million times - even went into safe mode to see if it was installed 9 times over or something...but i'll have another look when i get home at what you've listed above.
If it is a registry deal is there a specific place i should be lookin? i know my way around computers somewhat, but i never bother going into there just cause...i'll probably screw something up...but if i need to go in not a prob. Hopefully there's a specific registry entry for this device!

that's all the reg keys for the scanjet software to remove them, if your not to easy fixes are format start again, once **** gets stuck in the registry it can be a bitch to remove/install software/hardware proper... def try outlet instead of your power bar anything worth a shot....

Oh yeah you would be surprised when it comes to Hp equipment how stupid **** affects them lol... example I do OfficeJet support there fax machines works perfect for 6 months with the wrong phone cord and now it doesn't , " ok please put in the correct cable" that won't work " please do it " I will send you a fax now, " oh look it's working, what did you" I made you use the correct cable we sent with it " oh OK" thanks bye lol
