Question

Has anyone else noticed in most of the new cars they are starting to offer subwoofers with them?? For example the 2004 Echo hatchback offers a 10" sub as an option

Ford and JBL started to in the mid 90s and everyone's doing it now. The Monsoon systems in GM and Vw I actually really dig.

it sucks with some systems though. The jbl system in the 2003 Lexus SC 430 distorted to much when I was in it even at low sound levels

I guess they're trying to get the money people are spending on aftermarket stuff. They have a lot of work to do if that is the case though lol Wouldn't get far at a car audio competition with a stock sound system lol. The new Tiburon's come with sweet lookin Clarion equipment! But I think they only come with the option of an 8" Sub

either way its a nice option for the average joe thats not into car audio but wants a some thing a lil better than the standard factory offering

Somehow I just can't picture myself getting that as a factory option. As I learn more and more. I don't mind using some of the newer Head Units our there with a system. You could add a digital output on to them. Now several car companies have XM radio intergrated into the factory system. But you have to glass your own kicks.

Cool

the hummers monsoon setup with the dual 6" subs is pretty good for a dealer option..mind you, it's in the real hummer, not the H2/square denali.

It markets well to people who are clueless to aftermarket audio and think they will have to cut up their car to make the stereo better.

If they don't know their other options they will just know it sounds better than the stock cd player with the two dual cone door speakers so they go for it.
In a lot of cases, it works.
