Thumbs up Anything to know when buying new irons (golf clubs)?

So, I've had the same set of graphite wilson killer whales since i was about 14 or 15 in 94-95(dad bought them for me since we sold wilson products). I've since won a Taylor Made R7 quad and couple different putters in golf tournaments. Last year i picked up a taylor made sac 60 degree wedge. Now i'm lookin for some new irons, for no real particular reason, other than i wonder if i'm missing out on anything.

When i was getting the R7 driver sized up, I believe my swing speed was 112mph or-115mph. I don't quite get out as much as i'd like (golf is expensive) but i'm probably between and 8-12 handicap. I'm about 6'2....and my floor to wrist length is about 32" if that matters at all.

Any suggestions or things I should know going in? I'm not lookin to spend a ton....probably somewhere around $500ish. I only really need 3-PW or so. Not 100% sure if i wanna go hybrids for the lower irons or if i want a 3 or 5 wood or what.

Just lookin for info before i wonder down to golf town tomorrow morning.

alright no worries - ended up picking up a set of taylormade r7 steel irons 4-aw. Already had a taylormade sac 60 wedge, so i also picked up a 56degree taylormade sac wedge. So now i got 4-9 and 4 weges.

It was kinda between those and some callaway x18's i was playing with. They wer eboth on sale, and both felt pretty good, but i went with hte taylormade's.

Tested em out at the range and they are AWESOME, sooooooo consistant and easy to hit. I may have lost a tad of distance, not that i've given them much of a chance, but they feel awesome. I can see these saving me a couple of strokes.

Now i just need to replace my two old fairway woods....then i'll be ROLLIN!!!

What did you end up paying for those bad boys? Those are nice irons.

I think the tally was $699. Then I got home to realize they came with an AP and PW, leaving a gap beteen those and my 60 degre lob wedge. So back to the store...and picked up a 4th wedge. The wedge was $100.

Total bill $840 w/tax's.

I'm supposed to golfing tomorrow, but i'm working on enduring Temporal Arteritis and now a cold yet too. So....hmm I may n ot get to try them out properly for another week or so.
