I got a demo from a friend on Wedsnesday - The Band is called Superbeing -- they do a wicked cover of "Hungry Like the Wolf" -- sounds much better than most of the generic crap they call rock nowadays

 

A couple of good old school bands I like are Marillion (especially Clutching at Straws) and the LA's (they did the song you've heard covered 15 million times "There She Goes")

knucklehead (great punk band, first heard em live at the disappointing Steve-O show on newyears)
Shelters (great song for all u workin class scraping by like me:S)
little boots, another great tune

and this is one of my favorite bands, i work with the lead singer/guitarist, they are wicked good live
