I see some things haven't changed. Too bad.

Anyway, yup Jeep still in Loops. No longer a banker, 35lbs lighter and loving it. Spent the winter back country snowboarding and am set for a stellar summer on the mountain bike.

Won't take up too much of your space with my ramblings, just wanted to see how everyone is doing.

good deal, I hear that things are booming up in Kamloops work-wise also. Any truth to that?

The Interior as a whole seems to be picking up. Just stay away from Kelowna. They seem to be growing at a rate faster than what the city can handle. I cringe every time I go there.

Loops is moderatly priced for housing, work seems to be fairly abundate and the economy seems to be holding strong. Oh and it has the best mountain biking in Canada

I heard the other day they were going to re-open the Afton Mine in a year or two. It was a big Copper mine just west of Loops. If that happens, it will bring a HUGE boost to the economy.

Nice to see you back around, Pete. My wife and I have looked at Kamloops, but it seems every place we look at that has affordable housing then goes into a major boom (like Saskatoon and area, prices went up 43% in the past year; kinda depressing looking at houses that were 210k-ish in October now hitting the 300k mark). Kamloops has never really 'grabbed' me as a place I'd like to be but that's just me. What's the core industries for that city though? I haven't really been able to figure that one out.

Forestry is pretty big here. We have a few mills and such around. Of course with mills comes people that cut down the trees. Then you have the people who replant the trees. Then you have the people who put the trees out when they are on fire. Oh, ya, forgot about the people are going to have to cut down all the bettle killed trees. So ya, forestry is pretty big. We have a copper mine just outseld Kamloops (Logan Lake) that seems to be employing lots of people.
Other than that, what else is there...hmmmm. Can't really think of much else. There must be more, but I can't think of it.

I didn't think Loops would be a place I would want to call home either, but now that I have been here for 7 years, I am not even thinking about moving any time soon. Love it here. I am not a big city guy, and Loops fits the bill perfectly.

Well, if the wife wants you to kiss her where it stinks, you can take her to the pulp mill at least. The CPR and CNR are major employers there being a divisional point, CPR having a huge container sort outside of town. Finning has a fairly large plant there as well do they not? Lots of ranching in the area as well. Nice place to live as well Pete. It would be on my list of a place to live. Lots to see and do around the area.
