I spent some time at the Sandfly Festival on Canada Day. It is a bunch of bands, some local and some that aren't. A great local band Seven Minute Mile played, Then Swass, another local Band. There was a couple country acts, but I don't know who they were. Other Bands that played were Downtime, and Butterfinger. Anyways, guess who is in the band Swass?

Hehe, that young kid from Med Hat that is on Canadian Idol (wearing that light blue shirt) .. can't remember his name.

Kalen Porter. His 14 year old sister is actually a better singer IMO. The band is made up of Kalen, and about three members of his family (sisters, cousins) and a couple others. They played quite a variety of songs including The Devil Went Down to Georgia, Born to be Wild, Cottoneyed Joe, some Alanis Morrisette song and a few others.

A funny story about Canadian Idol is that the guy who won the Canadian Idol got the crap kicked out of him by my friend when they were both in high school.
