My friend has a jeep grand charokee. When the car is off and key is out of the ignition and the doors are shut, the interior lights stay on. When we turn the key backwords to the accessory position, and the doors are shut, the lights turn off. We have checked to make sure the switch isn't on, and checked to make sure the sensors in the doors are working.

Anyone have any ideas?

I own a 2001 Grand Cherokee and discovered that in the back on the headliner of the truck there is an interior light there. You can click it on and off and it SOMETIMES gets jammed and creates the problem you described.

You have no idea Fazes. How many "my car wont start" complaints do you thing mechanics get, that turn out to be out of gas? So many problems are solved by "stupid", overlooked things. It COULD VERYWELL BE that the light is stuck in an "on" position. (which is basically what killergrand said.) Now, i would recommend SOLVING the problem, before taking out the light, but as of yet, the only useless comment in this thread is yours.
