Has anyone done a switch on an engine so that it was carbed and was switched over to fuel injection.

I have several Ford 351 Windsors that are carbed, I would like to try and convert one to TBI to try and get some fuel economy

Or could someone point me in the right direction?

shouldnt be a hard swap... what years are the 351`s ? the newer ones (86+) should be a roller motor (roller lifters)

also skip the TBI and go for a multi port injection .... older 302s (mid 80`s ) town cars had the TBI...

get the computer wiring harness and all the sensores off a 86+ fuelie car and slap it all together.

i think 89 and newer were mass air cars older than that were speed density

hummmm have you looked into Mega squirt EFI ? its hard core DIY if you wanna do it all

oh your also gonna have to get a fuel pump and lines, you might can get an inline one so that saves you form moding up your current tank.

there is a few companys that make stand alone EFI systems ( holley, F.A.S.T., SDS, accel, )

If there's any hardcore electronics, you may need to change the wiring harness on it...and that is usually the most painful process, both in time and money.

Since when can't carbs be tuned for better fuel economy than a TB?

Zut, for a guy in your position, it's best to leave things alone.

Check what size of jets you have and see if you can get a leaner primary or something. Leave the secondary the way it is, and don't press the accelerator past ¼!

I probably will. I was just curious. I love my windsor engines, just afraid of the lack of milage. I plan on putting on alectric fan and losing the belt driven one in hopes of gaining some power and fuel economy..y'know the little things.

The engines are all 1977 vintage. Not over 70,000 on either.
