Orion: you think that anything changes when you switch companies? insurance here is a joke. I got a letter one day saying that because I'd had 2 speeding tickets I was now in "Facility association" and my insurance went up by TEN TIMES and there was nothing I could do about it. I was paying double the value of my crappy little car every year jsut to be able to drive it, then I had my deck stolen, started a claim and dropped it because they weren't going to give me anything, they still jacked my insurance because I started a claim.

Prajesh: you have a conviction for a moving violation on your driving record, they will bend you over and jam as big an increase up your **** as they can, and they won't be using any vaseline either.

I doubt that he'd kill you, probably say something like this:

"Well, son, ya dun ****ed up...looks like you're paying for your own insurance now."

Best of luck.

Your dad might be pissed at you right now but to have you hide it from him and find out later on makes things that much worse. What other things have you hidden from him will be the next thing that enters his mind. Batter up, tell him the low down and accept the punishment.

Here in BC, I believe it is 5 points on your license before it adversely affects your insurance premium. 6 points and it is not only pay the man for the points, but pay the MAN for insurance premium as well.

Dave knows all too well about being pulled over by the sounds of it. He is just hoping that I get posted there should I make it into the RCMP.

okay, in order for him to get points, he has to be atleast going 16 or over, 15 over counts just as a ticket, his insurance will not go over at all because he is still at 0 points. but he should tell his dad. I got pulled over doing 150 on 90 zone and got a 350 dollar ticket. I took it to court and it droped (got lucky, the cop didn't show up and i didn't plee guilty). anyways, i just don't think anything will happen to his insurance, they might just send him him a warning or something.

We Asians just hope you don't get posted as an officer of the law in Richmond. Referring to a thread you replied in....... something about the Chinese in Richmond?

Anyway, my advice, Prajesh, take it to court. Good experience.... exercise your right to dispute a ticket.

Six in a row for me. The police failed to prepare their case in three of them and the other three were no shows. The last three, I was just lucky. It doesn't matter if you are guilty or not. The law gives you the opportunity to present your case. I did my homework on all 6 of my tickets. If you dispute your ticket and your court date comes up more than 8 months after the date written on the ticket, you have a pretty good chance of winning your ticket.

Be up front with your parents and have them call the insurance company to find out what a speeding ticket does to your/their rates. Then, decide whether or not to take it to court. I think the officer did you a big time favour. He probably has a son your age and knows what it means to receive a bigger ticket.

Ya man, I got one point from mine, came home told my dad that I got a speeding ticket for 96 in a n 80. He wanted to fight it(unfortunately my neighbour was an OPP officer) he told her I was goin 140, so in the end he found out.

Anyway, for me to get my own insurance on a car now in Ontario, would be about $6500-$7000 WITHOUT collision on that.

Now that sucks.

Edit: I have a non-responsable accident on the insurance as well. Could make a big difference.
