Cops suck. What should i do ?
I think Canada should go to a public system like germany's, where you pay for your insurance as a tax on your gasoline, the more you drive, the more gas you buy, the more insurance you pay. people who go to the store once a week and back pa very little, and people who drive a lot pay more, it's fair to everyone.
(of course, those who drive a lot will bitch, whine and moan because it's not as cheap for them to be insured as the little old lady down the street who drives once a month)

I personally agree with their ticketing principle as it works in the same way.
The more money you make the more the ticket costs. Of course there is still the set price like we have in North America for a set overage but those who make more will pay more.
If you're making $50k a year you're likely to notice a few $100 tickets when they rack up but someone making $500k isn't going to take notice at all. If the ticket costs $5000 then they will start to notice.

you guys from BC have provincial insurance... lucky bastards. he's 19 and now has a ticket, there's a good chance that his insurance will triple here in ontario. Private insurance companies are a HUGE scam, they make so much money that they have to sponsor every event they can find to write off the sponsorships so that they can keep making money, which means that WE the ontario people pay out our *** to keep the insurance companies fat.
I'd say that minimum his insurance will double.

When the news tells you that the insurance industry made X amount of money, you have to divide among ALL the companies in the industry, which I think at last count was around 200 or so...so most companies don't make a ton of money...
There are only TWO ways an insurance company makes money, Premiums and investments, and like everyone else that has investments the last 10-12 years haven't been fantastic, but it's getting better that why they are posting profits.
If you want to complain about premiums, bitch to the guy who gets his 13" tv stolen, get's his buddy at the electronics store to write him a fake receipt for a big screen and the insurance co. has to pay for...Fraud is a huge issue...
Okay, I'm done
