An OPP officer has been charged under the province's street racing laws for speeding in her police vehicle while on duty.
The officer, driving an unmarked car, was stopped by Brant County OPP on Highway 403 going 165 km/hr in a 100 km/hr zone.
"The subsequent investigation found that the officer was not within the lawful execution of her duties at the time," police said.
Det. Const. Heidi Fischer was charged with driving 50 km/hr or more over the posted speed limit.
Her licence was suspended for seven days and the OPP unmarked vehicle was impounded for seven days.
Fischer is a four-year member of the OPP posted to the Provincial Operations Intelligence Bureau at General Headquarters in Orillia.
She will appear in Provincial Offences Court in Brantford on March 24.

A Peterborough OPP officer has pleaded guilty to driving his police cruiser while impaired.
Const. Kevin Dignan was charged in April 2007 after his cruiser rolled over on Highway 28 south of Burleigh Falls.
He was taken to hospital where blood tests revealed he had more than three times the legal limit of alcohol in his system.
The constable was on-duty and in uniform at the time of the accident.
Investigators testified that they found an empty beer bottle in the cruiser. The case has been adjourned to Feb. 19.

hahaha i had no idea that crash even happened. looks like the OPP need to get serious. i mean yeah there were a couple crashes in the past few weeks with TPS but one of them i know they claimed to be swerving to avoid a pedestrian vehicle during a chase. OPP seem to be slacking in the responsibility department
