Some of Toshiba's TVs have great picture quality at a good price. I saw an open box 20" at FS for $179 the other week ...

As for me, I'd get Sony ... My parents have every single Sony TV they've ever had and they only had a couple problems with ONE of the TVs (5 in total now) ... Not to mention Sony has, arguably, the best image quality as well ...

I have a Samsung myself, I like it ...

If you know someone with a Costco card, I'd check them out as well ... You can find some wicked deals from Costco when they stop carrying the product For example, I got a set of Logitech Z3 computer speakers for $40

As for buying a TV from CT ... Don't ... I used to work there, believe me, they suck ... I wouldn't buy half the stuff they sell in the electronics department On a related-to-CT note, never, ever, ever, ever buy Jobmate ... They always go on sale and probably 1/4 of them get returned within a month ...

Another former CT employee eh?

I know what you mean about the Job Mates. I got to destroy the returned ones that had no warranty.

I beg to differ on the sony quality, awhile ago when I was lookin with my dad (for his sake not mine) at a widescreen tv Hitachi had better picture quality than Sony did, the tv's were side by side and Sony's wasn't as good. They seem to be goin downhill lately I think they're cheapin out.

As for Costco my older sister has one and livez 10minutes from it so I'll definately check that out I didnt even think of that, thanx man

Same size, type, and signal ?

My parents bought a 36" Sony Wega and the picture quality is fantastic ... But if you compare it with a cable signal to another TV with a signal from a DVD, odds are the other TV will look much better because of the better signal. If you use the same signal with that Wega against a projection TV, odds are the Wega will have better image quality. If you compare a 24" Wega to a 36" Wega, the 24" Wega will probably have better image quality because the resolution is the same but because it has a smaller screen, the pixels will be smaller.

So if you compared say ...

24" Toshiba Tube TV with DVD signal
to
36" Sony Projection TV with cable signal

The results wouldn't really reflect that the image quality of ALL of Sony's TVs are inferior to the image quality of ALL of Toshiba's TVs ...

They were the same size tv just different brands, and they were both hooked up to Satelite. Sony Wega's are awesome quality no doubt on that, tis a diff story. But a year ago when ilooked the hitachi looked a LOT better than the sony beside it.
