I just started one day. You learn most things as you go along.

Make sure if you're buying anything big to semi big that you make sure the seller has good feedback. Don't buy from someone when everyone complains about the seller. This is obvious of course.

I've bought a lot of stuff off there...in fact have a couple items on the way as we speak...

Only had probs with one guy...sent my AC/DC"Highway to Hell" 8 track to the wrong address...twice...but got a little later than planned...

Even got that funky 8track with remote I ran last season off there...

I use ebay WAY to much, here are my own personal rules.....................

1. I won't buy something from someone that won't take paypal (Paypal cover you up to $1000) no other form of payment will do that.

2. If the person gets negative feedback from someone and they turn around and attack the person or make them look like the bad guy I won't deal with them.

3. Zero feedback gets no bids from me, no matter what it is.

4. I TRY not to buy from someone shipping by UPS cause UPS will serve your *** raw to you with shipping and brokerage charges when shipping to Canada.

5. Read the WHOLE auction, the fine print too.........it is easy to get screwed and it be your own fault.................

6. Always try and get shipping charges up front if the item is to cheap, people try to make all their money on shipping and that sucks cause you are stuck.......................

7. I never bid till near the end of the auction, some people hate snipers, but lets me honest, why jack the price up if I don't have to.................

Yeah, they take the money from your credit card or bank account. You pay a small fee and the seller pays a larger fee.

I've bought an original movie poster off ebay, turned out great paid through money order.

Tim pointed out great advice. Only other advice I would give is to sometimes skim through the type of feedback they have gotten to build your own impression on the seller.

Paypal is a great service. It has treated me well and I have not had any trouble sending money. I've used it maybe 30 times and it's always been a sinch to use. They have great customer support too I found.

sometimes you love it, sometimes you hate it. i was having a bidding war on some stuff this one time with another guy,we upped one another every day, but i really wanted the item, it came down to the final minutes - i got up at 3:00 a.m. just to make sure i wasn't outbid at the last second, sure enough, we were upping the bids at the last minute, and because my browser couldn't refresh fast enough, i lost the item.
