In most cases, data takes too long to travel reliably

The correct term is repeater. Never ever called an amplifier. Bad.

I have a 6" run from the card on one PC to my switch. So yeah, it can be any shortness, heh.

Repeaters themselves aren't generally available. Best thing to do is centrally locate a hub or switch. Those are around 30-50 bucks for a 4 port unit. I would suggest a switch because it is intelligent; meaning it can direct traffic better instead of broadcast the signal to every PC.

100m is the maximum length for cat5 / cat6 ethernet cable to transmit within its specifications. Beyond 100m you can get noise, transmission errors, and other such things.

If you start encountering slow speed or lots of transmission errors, then put a hub in there. Otherwise, don't worry about it. If it's working ok for you at 130m, leave it In an enterprise, I would never go beyond 100m, but for a home, if it works, it works.

Seems to be alright, but if i were to go with a hub, would it be worth it to go wireless? i already have a card for my laptop for work.
