It's 89.4 here ... Has been for months, never seems to go down ...

Saw 83.5 in Nanaimo once a few weeks ago, but it went back up the next day ...

Here's a question, i know some people that wanna move to Nanaimo. Whats the price for living out there these days? Not cheap I can imagine?

Whats the average price of a townhouse vs a house vs an apartment?

I live in Duncan (about 45 minutes south of Nanaimo) and a decent 1-bedroom apartment is about $450-500/month and a 2 bedroom is about $550-$600 ... Most of these include heat and hot water and some include hydro, too.

Nanaimo is about $50 more expensive than that per month for an equivalent living quarters (the last time I checked, but that was last year )

My GF and I pay $475 per month for a 1-bedroom apartment which includes hot water and a lounge room (TV, pool table, library, etc.) and hydro is only about $15-$20/month (depending on season) ... It would probably be less sans the receiver and computer Hydro is fairly negligible unless you're operating something that consumes a lot of energy (i.e. Dryer). Laundry is $2/load (so about $16/month for us), though that's actually on the expensive side (most places it's $1.25/load). Insurance is probably a lot cheaper here than in Ontario (from what I've heard). It's usually $1,000-$1,500/year unless you own a fairly-new or expensive vehicle. Insurance on a 2004 Sunfire/Cavalier was just under $2000/year (minus the discount of 10% and it was under $1800/year or about $147/month. Under my discount of 25%, it would've been ~$1450/year or ~$121/month)
