Your employer is required to provide you with 3 consecutive hours to vote...this link explains it well.

In that situation, their employer was not required to give them any time off. They are required to have 3 consecutive hours to vote, regardless if they are working those hours or not. In their case, they had over 8 consecutive hours to vote after their shift ended, So they didn't get any time off to vote.
