High School Car Audio Club
#1
Since January, I've been teaching at a Toronto area high-school. Today, I heard a couple students argue about which subs were "better" and after listening to their cases, I decided to educated them by explaining a few basics on the topic. They where pretty surprised by what they heard and I started to think about putting a club together to discuss basic topics relating to car audio.
I'd like to bring in some gear and show them some of the theory in action. Right now I'm looking at discussing the basics (i.e. - how to read the specs on car audio products, basic system design, etc.).
I'm going to gauge interest and see what can be done. Mind you the year is almost over so I really don't have a alot of time to start a "club" but I think I can do a couple of info sessions.
Any thoughts or ideas?
Can anyone suggest a place for a 120V to 12V power supply? Might be useful for demos...

Dude man, come down here and cheap, I would love to have a sub teacher, teach a couple classes!! That be insane, and to start a audio club. Great idea for sure. Well bring it to the Admins knowledge, explain it, work it into the educational section of it (ahhaha) and see what can be done!

It's a good idea, but it will give the dumbasses in your school a damn good idea of who's cars to break into. Starting a club outside of school might be a safer idea.
But on the other hand, don't mind me, I've just got a hardcore security sense.

As soon as I started reading your post I started thinking how soon your car would get broken into.
Even if you said there was nothing in it.
As much as I encourage education on all levels I feel this will require some tact on your part to make this work.

I say go for it.
I would have loved a club like that back when I was in HS.
I don't really believe your car will instantly get broken in to. Geez, we can't live our whole lives in fear of getting our stuff jacked. Doesn't seem to make sense to me to buy this stuff if you're paranoid any time you walk 10ft away from your car.

Hey as long as you have a good alarm and don't park super far away and out of sight. There really isn't a huge reason to be worried. I bump my stuff around everywhere. And have for the last 4 years. But I have a decent alarm and always park in sight and near the front or middle of wherever I am. Nobody has yet to mess with my stuff yet. People aren't stupid. And they usually go for the cars that are out of sight or farther away. So just park close or in the general area of sight and you shouldn't have to worry.
