Doug, I agree with Yuli. Suck it up and get a minivan there dad. Probably better on insurance, cheaper to operate, more room and easy for everyone to drive. There are probably a crapload more of them to choose from at better pricing as well.

well I have a toyota 4 runner and the damm thing is amazing other than it's a bit underpowered it's wonderful. No oil burning or issues since we bought it.
it's a 97 and was worth every penny.
With regards to Ford, I just did a survey on a prototype called the Edge.
I was impressed even though i'm not a ford guy I would consider it.
Good luck with your suv looking.

The SUV is a better choice then a mini-van in my opinion. Minivans have a horrible track record with many mechanics, and its not like you have 4 kids, so why not go with an suv? I like the explorers, but am definately more impressed with import SUVS. The gas mileage and over all woth of an import after many years of driving and many kilometers on the engine, compared to something domestic is something that you should consider.

Yeah, gonna pass on that no damn minivan for this boy even the wife doesn't want one, we want something that we can have the odd fun in...I am not to concerned about ALOT of room I just want more then what the cav offered, we checked out a jeep liberty last night and it was pretty roomy for what we would need... As for insurance my insurance will drop 160$ by going to the Liberty... so I would pay 176$ month.. and that;s with the wife and I have 2 at fault accidents on our name so I am not to concerned about to much cheaper...

Soo that being said it looks like we maybe going the way of the Liberty... the engine was replace don it as whoever owned it before forgot to tightent he oil filter and well the engine ran dry and took out a lower main bearing, they replace the engine with another one with approx 60,000km on it... we checked out the engine not a leak anywhere on the engine and it doesn't appear to have been cleaned up to make it look that way.. No oil burn, pick up is good.....System in it sounds not bad at all but in time will be upgraded... speaking of which they look like they have 6.5" speakers in the doors can anyone verify this? As well is there any issues when them Suv's in regard to aftermarket head decks?? Special harnesses or like that?

I just bought a Liberty two weeks ago and I am very happy with it so far. The import SUV's were a little too city-oriented and car-like for me and the only two domestic SUV's we liked were the Escape and the Liberty. In the end, we chose the Liberty since it was rated higher in every reliablity test we looked at, will perform better off-road, and can tow a heavier load. It is a little rougher on gas though and the off-road suspension is a little rougher on city roads so keep that in mind. According to consumer report the Liberty has also held its value better than any other SUV, followed closely by the Honda CRV, so that is a benefit as well, although your initial buying price might be a little higher.

No major issues with the Liberty, aside from having someone incapable of doing a proper install on one. Check out these pics of a Liberty done by a installer in Victoria. This is my good friends vehicle. We did his brothers here, he went to a local shop in Vic and now look at the issues. Pics are on page 2 and posted on my behalf by Velocity Motors (Jeff).

You will need mounting adaptors to do the front and rear door speakers and can easily fit a oversize 6.5" speaker in there.
