I'd buy my speakers before I bought her friggin flowers. If she wants flowers she can spend her own money(because she WILL have a job, I'm not payer her way through life) and plant a friggin garden. That keeps her out of my hair and keeps my ears happy with new speakers.

Maltesechicken got my point. Wives have veto authority, mine lets me do more or less what I want in the audio realm (but it had better not involve a female at any point). She hears the difference between components faster than I do so she understands my efforts to improve SQ.

A relationship is like a checkbook, you have to make periodic deposits for the inevitable withdrawals.

Deposits: flowers, trips to places of HER choosing, dinner at HER restaurant, calling her parents, visiting her parents, romance, listening to her problems at work, babysitting, changing diapers

Withdrawals: being in the same zip code as an old GF, working late, telling the truth, too much time away from home at shows etc

Neutral: audio (for me anyway) unless I spend waaay too much (hint- spend the kilobucks over time not all at once)

When she starts to expect the flowers then she starts to take them for granted. They are a privilege not a right.
