I failed my G test.. don't know what to do..

Hey guys..
I had my g2 for a few years.. but went for my G test and I ****ed up..
Snow fell from the roof and I 'froze' and didn't know where the wiper was..
(it was my buddies car)

so I wasted $125 right there and then

I want to buy a honda civic.. 2002 or something.. and insure it..
but I have 1 speeding.. 1 inproper turn and cancellation of insurance..
that was 2 years ago..

I've really smarten up since then and I can drive really good but the insurance doesn't know that and since I'm on my G2 still they want to charge me $600 a month..
Thats desjardins insurance(one of the cheapest)

What do I do guys..please help me.

Invest in a Huffy.

But in all seriousness, that is about it. You probably won't get much cheaper. Try Wawanesa. They like young males. Other than that, suck it up or find another means of transportation. I'm 24 with a decently clean record and I still pay a fortune. It's just the way it is. Is the insurance pricing system fair? No. But what is?

Once you have been cancelled by an insurance company you are screwed for (I could be wrong) 6 years. Your driving record is only 3 years but am pretty sure the insurance is 6 years.

They are all interconnected and share information. I switched last year after 8 years with same company. She read my history over the phone for the last 20 years.

Not tickets, or anything else like that, just who I was with, length of time, Province lived in, type of vehicle, etc. You can bet your *** she was evaluating me. Legally allowed to or not.

If the cancellation was finance related, well, thats a tough one. Even if you're bank messed up or whatever, trying to get that off the record is difficult.

What about getting the car put in one of your parents names and have you added as a part time driver? Insurance companies are FAR from stupid and it would still be expensive, but probably a lot better than the rates you quoted earlier.

I'm thinking that would be a good idea.. I'll put the honda civic in my moms name.. her record is 100% clean but she never had insurance in YEARS.. but she had her license for like 20 years or something.

if she did put me as a secondary driver it would be a half decent rate?

Well, I am a secondary on my mother-in-law's as my insurance is still $400-500 for anything I touch. She, l like your mother, has been driving for a long time with a clean record, and I'm paying $120 a month on a 2001 Caravan.

How long do you have to wait before you can attempt the G test again?
Once you have that your premiums will go down marginally. I'd also suggest calling the insurance company with a list of vehicles that you would consider buying, including that Civic, you might be surprised how much you can save on insurance by buying a different vehicle.
For some reason I think the Saturn Ion had a low premium compared to other cars my fiancee and I were looking at when she was going to buy her car...

Going under someone else's insurance is probably your best bet for now.

If your mother has had a lapse in insurance for a long time you may be in for a bit of a shock. They may consider her as a new driver for insurance purposes.
