[/QUOTE]Your dad is obviosly working for the wrong company, I have worked with quite a few consultansts that make $1000+ a day for companies such as Husky Energy, Conoco Phillips, Suncor, etc. Anywhere there is big construction happening someone has to be held responsible for projects, and thats where the big bucks come in to play. Some operations consultants make the big coin as well.

Like I mentioned, my brother in law makes $1500 a day, but that also includes his truck, fuel, laptop, etc. He has been in the idustry 20+ years and has worked his way to the top.

^ Entirely plausible. Even our senior engineers making around $100k/year have a charge-out rate of $130/hour. And that's just in the consulting engineering business. Oil and Gas consulting including vehicle expenses and all that, I can easily see $150+/hour. Frick, the senior accountants where my wife work bill out at over $300/hour [img]graemlins/freak.gif[/img]

BUT the thing to keep in mind here is whether or not the consultant is his own business or not. For example, I make the equivalent of just over $25/hour but my charge-out rate is $75/hour. Now if I was my own company, that $75/hour would be mine but I would also be on the hook for all of my own expenses, overhead, insurance, taxes, benefits, etc etc.

My brother used to manage the cheapest apartments in town and they were over 1400/month for a single bedroom. I love having family living here...
