OK, inquiring minds want to know, what are you planning to do with her? If I base my guess on what I've seen you do in the past it will be awesome I'm sure.

I am not going quite as wild as the hearse.
Lets see...bags, 22's, black cherry paint, 4 pillowback bucket seats, limo style mirror ceiling, some kind of engine swap (either a big block chevy or LS-1), extra long center console with subs etc etc

I have really thought about an LS-1 with the top mount Magnuson supercharger. Great looks with great perfomance. And the Chevy crate 572 would also be a contender.
Don't get me wrong, I love Caddy motors, but it takes so much more money and effort to get the same results. Not to mention the availabilty at the local hot rod shop not far from me.

Your wallet will love you if you stick with a SBC.

If you drop a BB in it, say one of those 500+ cube ones then you may as well start replacing drivetrain parts now.

You know, this may be out to lunch for what you want to do, but really, to freshen up that 429 wouldn't take that much. Strip it down, hot tank the block, maybe go .010 /.020 over (if it even needs it). Rings, cam bearings, lifters, guides, turn the crank .010/.010 with fresh bearings. Bet you it would be worlds cheaper than a new engine.

No screwing with throttle linkage, mounts, bellhousing, tranny, etc, etc, etc.

Maybe put EFI on it to ditch the carb.

I think any competent trans shop could rebuild the transmission, boost line pressure a bit for crisper shifts.

Isn't there a rule somewhere that says you cant post unless you put up more pictures?

Anyway, I'd love to have the hard decisions you have ahead of you!

It is a sin against man and machine to put a chevy mill in a Cadillac.

I wouldn't waste time and money on the 429 though. Almost zero aftermarket support for it and it takes a non-standard bellhousing - stick to the 472/500.

IF you do the unthinkable and get a chev motor for it - at least stick to a big block...

My dad had a 68 convertible Cadillac with the 472 in it, 375 horse from the factory, nice motor........

Ugh...sorry about not getting back. I thought my account here got 86'd.

Anyway, the 429 is pretty fresh. I'm told that the heads were ported and polished, and the short block was balanced and blueprinted. It still doesn't feel like the same UMPH that my 383 stroker had in my 70 hearse.

My buddy on the NHAA board just finished a 650hp caddy 500 engine. I will take a look when he is done.

I'm sorry I haven't loaded any more pics, I just haven't done anything to the car yet. Well, I replaced 1 tire, pulled the glove box out and repainted it, re-aligned some sheet metal, and other small uninteresting things.

The 1st project is some kick panels. I am going to use some Eclipse 3-ways that I have laying around. I really like the aluminum cone look. I will post as I get started.

At the same time I will be yanking out the bench seats and mounting in some pillowback office chairs. I know it sounds crazy, but it will be very cool and pimp when done right.
