So me and a buddie are going in together on a mig welder
we kind of wanted to keep the price as low as possible but still get something decent.
anyhow Acklands in Prince albert has a Hobart 180 amp Mig with the gas setup on sale for 750.00
our other choices are a lincon 175 plus, Miller 175 & liquid air 175, they run about 1000 - 1100
is the hobart any good or are we better off spending the extra on one of the others
the money saved would pay for a cutoff saw

I can attest to Miller quality. I have the 135 (basically the 115V version of the one you are eyeing down) and it is a great little unit, especially with the abuse it has seen. The only thing I suggest is that you look into some 115V units as well. They are cheaper and much more versatile because you can use them basically anywhere, not just where 230V is available. Also, a 115V unit is probably enough for you unless you are doing some seriously heavy stuff, mine will handle up to 1/4" with no problems.
We have a Millermatic 210 welder. Very good investment.. out of those choices i would buy the miller or hobart. At work, we have bad experience with the lincons. Pluss I like miller better If you are going to do heavy duty stuff (Ie..make an extreme vehical LOL) go with the 230v. May I sugest gas (Argon/C02) and 0.035 wire. Please correct me if i an wrong .
