Ok so the new car was bumped down to a used car instead of brand new.

And right now its between a 97-98 Z24 and a 2001 Tiburon.

I looked at and drove the Tib today and liked it, only has 47,000k on it. Dealer is asking $12,995. No rust, power everything, sunroof, black, SE edition, Clarion CD player with remote, aftermarket alarm. Automatic, spoiler. Can't think of anything else.

Now what I'm told from a friend Hyundai's tend to start breaking down after 70,000k. What I would like to know is from anyone on here what their advice/opinion is on the above vehicle and this type of Tiburon in general.

I've done some research looked at the recall lists, road test results, specs, parts that go how much approx it would cost to fix, the value of the vehicle already. As well as drove the car this morning I was comfortable in it and I sent my dad to drive in the afternoon and he had positive feed back as well.

What would YOU guys have for input on this?

I'd have no problems picking up that tib. It's got fairly low milage and Hyundais have REALLY improved their reliability in the last few years.

You may want to give us the info on the Z24 though so we know what we're comparing here

Go for it if you want it. But I'd maybe hold off for 6 months or so, pay some of your schooling off, and give you time to build up some money to see if you still want it.

Automatic?

If all you are looking for is basic transportation, I just got my GF a 2005 Honda Civic, auto, air, extended warranty etc for 240$ tax included on a 5 year lease with 0$ down.

This is the best value on the market IMO.

Financing used cars is a really bad idea.

That's actually one of the later versions of the 1st gen. You can tell by the different headlights.

That one shouldn't be too problematic.

Here is the cavalier thats in comparison(sp) to it right now

98 Z24 Picture

specs

98 with about 50k
has kybs and eibach springs, full exhaust, front and rear aftermarket jbl speakers, tinted, has a full rk body kit and wing, and just some other things.
$4500
Automatic

^ quoted from the seller on the JBODY Ontario forum.

I drove the tiburon the other day and will drive it again tomorrow. It drives really well has low k, and I pull in about $2,000 a month. However I can't get the brand new one like i had planned as the parents have to cosign for me to get the credit approved and I hear enough whining from them about cars in general as it is. I JUST sold my 87 Z24 today however that money is going to my new amp hehehe We're trying to talk the seller down to about $10,500 becuz we found out the vehicle is only worth about $8,000.

SO! Tomorrow we're gonna do some negotiating and if the price ain't right we're walkin away and I'm back to lookin for a new car. The only car's I'm lookin for:

97-98 Z24 (not just a regular cavalier has to be the Z24 kit)
97-2003 Tiburon
98-2001 Sunfire GT model. (As much as I hate sunfires I would only buy a GT model).

The reason I can't save and wait is because I'm workin 2 jobs I now have no wheels and its becoming an inconvenience for my parents to coordinate their schedules to get rides home. Because when I work I take moms car and she can't get home with my type of schedule lol And I think she wants to drive her car considering she's paying for it. Brand new 2005 Corolla Sport lol

Anyone have any experience or info generally on Hyundai's themselves? Only lookin at a tiburon. The only way I'd buy an accent would purely be fore SPL purposes and I don't have the money and time to invest in that quest at the moment lol.

car also has to be an automatic I'm tired of standard.

Thanks guys for the input anymore input is welcome and appreciated.

Oh yea and I HATE Civics lol so please don't try and get me to buy a civic because it won't work.

If I wanted anything to do with honda I'd buy an Acura of some sort off my brother in law who is the business manager for an Acura dealership in Ajax.

lol

If the car is only worth $8500 why would you offer $10000 .I don't like cavaliers but that looks like alot of car for $4500. There's a billion of them on the road so I'm assuming parts are cheap from the wreckers.
