As for asking $10,500, if the dealership is asking $12,995 for a car they only paid about $8,000 for they aren't gonna turn around and sell it for what they got it for because they're not making any money. We're trying to meet them at half and be reasonable about it. Cuz if we walk in there tomorrow and say we know you paid $8,000 for it and thats what we'll give you for it. They'll turn around say no we're gonna sell it to someone else thats a ridiculous offer and some other crap. I'm fine with the dealership making SOME money but I'm sure as hell not gonna pay $12,995. They don't need to make $4,000 on it.
Buy basic transportation.
Much better to go with a new Sunfire/Cav for $12,000 right off the lot with a full warranty than to inheret someone else's problem's and be financing it.
Tib's are very expensive on insurance and Z24 and GT Sunfire's are pretty high also.
4dr new civic or sunfire/cavalier are the way to go IMO. New, cheap, reliable, and a warranty.

We go the insurance quote on what the tiburon would be and it would cost me $180 a month full coverage. That's pretty friggin good to me considering I used to pay $250 a month with no collision for my 1987 Z24. Don't forget men's insurance is higher I'm not a guy. I have my full G licence (knocks it down even a bit), I'm 21 (also knocks it). etc etc etc blah blah blah.
I don't want a 4dr new cavalier the sunfire's are god ugly . I don't even want a new 2dr cavy. I have a specific style I'm looking for, for a reason.

If I were you I would be getting your brother in law to try to score you a good deal on a used car off his lot.

Dukk you're absolutely right and that's what we're doin. Bry also has contacts and what not with some wholesalers and other dealerships the owner of the Acura dealer he works for owns 4 other one's. There's nothin at the moment unfortunately on his lot but he's looking around and gonna find me a good deal in what I am lookin for. He's how I got my 1987 Z24 3 years ago for $1,200 when he worked for Toyota in Ottawa. The car had 114,000k on it when I bought it from his dealership. And I got $700 for it yesterday.
So we'll see what happens, I need somethin soon though because its getting harder to accomodate commuting in this house hold with everyone's hours being different. Especially since I work 2 jobs right now.

And if for whatever reason my mum needs to drive the car she can't drive standard and there's no way she'll ever learn either we've already tried several times including in the past when dad owned them. So standard just isn't an option. What do you do when you get trashed at a party and your friend is totally sober but can't drive standard and you were the one that drove. Not an option sorry.

4500 dollar Cavalier... Why do I get the feeling that that thing will probably break down or have problems soon. It's a cheap car to begind with and you get what you pay for. I don't mind the way the Tiburon's look but, I don't know if I'd ever want one of those either.
I'd also agree with Dukk's idea.
