Need some Wisdom.. on getting a Wisdom tooth pulled.
We'll.. the chronic pain and swelling let to a check up at the dentist.. and sure enough.. the right wisdom tooth needs to go...
is this REALLY painful? I hear that "sleep dentistry" really works... but is it worth it?
The normal cost by my family dentist is $150. Is this normal?

That isn't a bad price IMO and I haven't gotten mine done, but my brother and friend had them done. They both said it wasn't too bad. My brother left the dentist and started eating right away LOL.
Anyways,
Good luck with it,
Craig G

Thanks.. that re-assuring.. I've heard of people practically screaming in pain for at least a day afterwards... thats not to comforting since I have to have the same thing done quite soon. LOL...
has anybody ever had that sleep dentistry done?

My girlfriend works for a dentist, it is her opinion that being put under is not the way to go. More people get sick from a reaction the the drugs and the dentist has the option to be less considerate to your mouth as you don't know what they are doing.
I had all four removed in one day with local anestesia (spelling???) and had no problems with pain or healing quickly.
Just find a doctor your comfortable with.

They put me to sleep and I didn't feel a thing. First day was pretty easy cause of all the novakane. Once that started to wear off it wasn't all that bad. There was maybe one day or two that it was real sore. It tends to creep up your cheek and can make you feel like you've got an earache.
Getting one or two pulled should be a snap. 3 or 4 can start to get a little painful. Just because that is a lot going on in your mouth at one time. Usually the pain killers they give you will take care of you. However for about a day in my case it seemed that nothing would do the trick and they were quite sore for about a day. It was really only unbearable for a few hours one of the days. So I don't think you'll have much of a problem.
I can't comment on the ease of being awake during the procedure though since they put me out. The whole process and healing is really not that bad though. Just have to be sure to watch what you eat for about a week. No drinking from straws and definitely no smoking! Good luck!

Meh.... get put under, get er done, let the freezing come out and the drugs totally wear off (imporant one here dudes)... wait for the pain to set in and then go on a week long rye up, stay drunk the entire time.... worked in the old days, did it not?
i got all 6 of mine done at once (i somehow had 2 extras above the top 2...runs in the family) and i was awake for the whole thing...even drove myself there and back...it only really hurt when the little dentist pulled hard...got bad when the freezing wore off, but thats why god invented T3's...if i had to do it again though, i would get put under...
