Decided to replace my "Cylinder" home sub with a traditional box.. The results:

http://www.mts.net/~dreddy/HT%20sub/back.jpg

Like most pictures, the finish didnt photograph well.. The color is more even/uniform then the picture shows.

It's a 15" tempest with a 300wRMS plate amp in a sealed enclosure.. response seems to be flat to 20hz (Depending on location) .

Just need to build a grill for the front.

What species of wood did you use to veneer the box?

^ It's oak veneer.. But its not a standard flat cut veneer.. Its almost a tiger pattern/cut.. Looks good in person, but in pictures its seems to look like its bleeding and fuzzy.

Nice work.
Tiger always looks incredible in person but it doesn't come through in pictures very well.

I guess it would be to late now, but next time if you do a project like that mind doing up some step by steps showing exactly what ya did? Looks like ya got some nice looking stuff there.

What thickness of wood did ya use? The box looks about as big as mine. Mine's ported tuned to about 24.5 hz 3.15 cu foot. But need to get an amp yet using a crapy 60 watter.

Chizzer, Theres many sites detailing construction. I will find one and post it for you.. It's made with 1" MDF, with the front being 1.75" (Sub is recessed 3/4"s to be flush). After the internal bracing etc.. etc.. its about 4.3cubic ft.
