New tv..too many choices

i just did the lcd projector route, i bought the benq 6110 that was on sale at staples for $872 last week, and a 70" x 70" screen ($200) which is equivalent to a 100" tv, and it looks pretty sharp, the only hitch is it has to be pretty dark in the room... its a low end projector, but i was on a budget, but it works great
i wouldnt want to go to a bigger screen though, you can jsut start to see the pixels if you look really close, but you dont notice watching tv (my couch is only about 10' from the screen which doesnt help for seeing pixels, the front of the projector to the screen is about 13')
the projector itslef is only nativ 800x600, so its not quite up to hdtv specs, it still looks damn good with dvds.

soundsaround has some good projectors in one of the theater rooms if you want to take a peek at them....
memoryexpress generally has the best pricing on them (except for that staples sale) staples also gives ya 30 days to return it if you dont like it.
but a decent setup for $1100, i couldnt go wrong... if you want to stop by some time, i can give ya the 5 min demo, just sent me a pm

I bought a Panasonic AE 700 LCD high definition projector about 4-5 months ago and couldn't be any happier, it shoots an incredible picture. I am shooting a 100" diagonal 16:9 screen and it is awsome. The price has come down A LOT since I bought mine which ticks me off, but what can you do. At least go check one out before you make any final decisions. MSRP is in the $3200 range I believe, but can be had for less.

when i was searching....i had settled on this:

it was about 5k brand new, down as low as about 4400 w/stand when i was searching a couple months ago, being that it's now loast years product probably a fair amount cheaper. But after lookin at numerous tv's it's hte one i ended up being happiest with. Then in the end i never did get the cash flow...and recently dropped $1300 on computer parts DOH. Guess i ain't gettin the tv forsure now.

Go pick up the March issue of Consumer Reports Canada, they had a huge comparison with every type of big-screen TV (except projectors) ...
IMO, DLP is the best compromise of cost, picture quality, size, viewing angles, weight, efficiency, convenience, etc. ... IIRC, Samsung DLP and Panasonic DLP were the top-rated in the microdisplay (DLP, LCD Projection, LCoS, etc.) category ... Sony was top-rated in every other category (CRT, Rear Projection CRT, LCD, Plasma, etc.)
