The only bad thing about DLP is the bearing for the colour wheel. I remember a Samsung losing a bearing -- it was ugly. If you buy a projector, LCD projection or DLP, buy an extended warranty.

Also, DLP suffers from a rainbow effect when your eyes shift across the screen. This is very annoying to me. The above Consumer Reports chart seems suspect to me as the sound quality portion of each TV got really high marks.......

It may reassure you to know that virtually all the sets we've tested recently produced excellent sound. That's largely because projection sets have bigger speakers than direct-view TVs and bigger cabinets with superior acoustical properties.

I haven't been sold on the LCD projection yet, the refresh rate for my eyes still isn't there and on high movement sceens like sports. I do like the DLP but they haven't been around long enough to sell me on the durability and longevity of the colour wheel...

So I went with good old fashioned CRT Projection and works for me.

and as for johnvrooms comments on the "finite" life of the plasmas, do some research buddy...60000 hours to half brightness, or maybe,20 years, thats as finite as every other product out there!

That's THEORETICAL ... Also, you might want to do some research on the reliability of Plasma TVs since their introduction ... I've heard of quite a few failing, including my uncle's which lasted about 1.5 years ...
