This is driving me nuts. I use WindowsXP... I want to take a screenshot, I push PrintScreen, and go paste it as a new image in my photo editing program (Jasc PaintShop Pro 6). But instead of showing up as the image, it ends up being a "window" to the background behind it...

It never did this with Windows98...what do I do!

do you want the whole screen? if so, just press the PRT SCR button on your keyboard.

If you have an application that is in a window and want a screenshot of just that app, press ALT and PRT SCR.

Hope that helps.

Paint Shop Pro has a screen capture utility too if the above won't work.

File -> import -> screen capture I believe.

all i do is click in the window I want the screen shot taken of and hit print screen, before alt+print screen worked tho. Then just copy and paste in any image or word processing program.

Try a video editor

http://virtualdub.sourceforge.net/

You can pick the frame of the clip you want and use paint shop or ms paint to copy the picture
