This shifter in my Maxima was pretty rubbery, and have missed a gear several times, but didn't let the clutch out. The WRX is way too short to miss a gear, heck it's only 1.5 inches front to back...

I don't blame the guy for missing a shift, but I'd be a little hard on him for the fact he was driving that fast, obviously without being 100% in control.

Did a locate on the engine ... found a few at a meagre $6,750 used

Whoa ... that would hurt big time.

Oh, and I find it a bit odd that he could get the thing to actually GO into that gear.
