Radar detector....your opinion

k well ive been meaning to get a radar detector but havent yet and dont know how much im willing to pay for one either but i thought i would start looking for something that suites me and is good.

So well i am wondering what you guyz feel is the best and yea( them passports are to expensive for me tho haha) but i dont know much about them, biggest thing im worried about is not noticing it because my music is to loud and stuff like that.... what i really would like is something that is kind of hidden and has voice alerts that ties into my stereo to ATT the music and give the voice alert to me or something like that but i doubt i could afford something that fancy :P lol

i dont know just throw out some ideas, past experiences n stuff so i can make up my mind on what to get

thanks

i'm kinda curious as to whether they make a radar detector that has an interupt ability for a headunit...same way phones do. Granted i just try not to speed on long trips, that was always my issue, couldn't hear it with music and could never seem to get it in a position that i'd always see the lights flashing.

IMO the Valentine radar detector is probably the best on the market. Does front rear and side detection and has arrows to indicate direction of threat, and is quite loud when cranked up, large display that would not go unnoticed.

Saved my friends butt quite a few times on those fast Alberta roads.

i have a bel 904 laser jammer(yet to be installed).the laser buster i had before, saved me huge, the first week i owned the car.
it warns of a hit, and jams the signal.
the 904(standalone) is disco, and replaced with the 905 which requires one of bell's top 3 windshield units to operate...i was very lucky to get this one!!
there is one laser gun that can't be jammed(except with blinder's jammer), manufactured in australia.
$700 for a decent unit.....3-4hrs to install it properly(must be leveled, or it's useless)
oh yeah...it's sensitive to direct sunlight. that's the only way i got nabbed

I would read this site the dude was a "X" pig to my understanding. I was looking for one couple months ago there 2 ways detector or Jammer....
http://www.radarbusters.com/

you have a jammer and get busted well lets just say you need a good lawyer to my understanding.

another one i came across was the K40 www.k40.com my old man has that on his truck its a laser jammer around the lienece plate. so far no tickets we wonder if it works or not but nothing yet...

or .... Just dont speed saves you more money to spend on more useless things like a stereo

Radar detectors are 100% legal in BC, Alberta and Sask... Manitoba they're legal to buy, sell and own... but illegal to use... everything east of Manitoba... 100% illegal...

yup totally legal here

well ive decided i dont want to fork out a lot of money so i think im gunna try to find a cheaper unit... n i dont really want a jammer, just a radar detector to help tell me when the cops show up in town so i can stop with the dumbshit haha, i dont do alot of speeding on the highways exept for maybe the odd short burst, and well i dont really belive in these jammers to much to tell you the truth

so i guess any of you have good experience with a cheaper unit that is 360 degree and all bands stuff like that ya know ... thanks and ill be doing some reading now from all them sites lol

thanks again

You guys are lucky...I wish I could have a radar detector...I travel all over ontario for work and get pulled over or trailed so often. I only speed on highways though not city streets...
