I know alot of farmers and hunters who have hit everything from cats/dogs/rabbits/coons/deer even a moose and I've never heard of any of them loosing control of their vehicles. They hit it, stop, inspect the damage... thats about it.

I can't relate because every animal I've hit always happens when I'm driving my dads truck, and basically you just try to get it to go right down the middle of the vehicle and keep on driving.

100km/h isn't really that fast... i've driven a lot faster on dirt roads, but if you hit it right i'm sure you could easily lose some control.

It's likely because farmers are all veteran animal runner-overs.

100 kmh on a dirt road is a recipe for disaster, your damn lucky to be alive dude. Please slow down, the second worst words that one can hear, other than "honey I'm late" (dodged that bullet) is "Mrs. Speedemon, I'm Officer Pickonkids, are you the parents of Zach Speedemon? I have some bad news for you."

I too have hit something at 110 km/h, the posted highway speed. Turns out a tire blew on a trailer 2 vehicles in front of me, the car directly in front swerved to miss it and it nailed my car bang on the pass side foglight, did about $700.00 damage and there was absolutely no time at that speed for me to move anywhere, most of the tire actually went right over my car but what did not sure made one helluva whallop when it hit. Maintained control the whole time thank god, could have been messy if I would have tried to move at that speed.

That said though, I agree, the racoon should have looked both ways.

Close call Zach...good you're ok.

You were driving a Civic right? That's not much bigger than a go-cart so I'm not surprised a 'coon sent you for a spin.

My g/f hit a frozen 'coon two winters ago with her Accord. Busted the front coil spring if you can believe that.
