Question

ok question for anyone here from BC whos gotten a speeding ticket,

a friend of mine got busted on her way home, 120 in a 90, now, the ticket, doesnt have what the posted speed limit was, or what speed she was goin, here in alberta i know the ticket HAS TO have that on it, as well as what the officer used to measure your speed, if it is missing any of that, the ticket is invalid because the record of evidence is incomplete,

ive never gotten a ticket in BC and i havent seen this one, but she was told by someone in the RCMP there that it doesnt matter, but that doesnt make sense to me, all the ticket has is that she was speeding, and the fine amount, is this right? or what, also she had a BC license, and the officer wrote down it was an alberta license what do yall figure? if i can get some definate answers, rather then "i think, or i heard" that would be great, thanx

oh yea, she was pinched by an RCMP if that makes any difference

The ticket does not need speed limit, her speed, how she was caught or anything like that.

Your only option is to dispute it, but unless she wasn't speeding she will not get off. Mistakes on the ticket don't matter (it depends on the judge really). The only thing that matters is if you can prove that she was not speeding. It is your responsiblity to prove that, not the other way around.

I have had 7 speeding tickets, contested 3 of them.

Speed is for the 1/4 mile track...off public roads.
I've had 3 tickets, and that's 3 tickets too many.
In BC for disputing a speeding ticket, pray that the cop doesn't show up. Or else you'll have a small chance of getting the ticket thrown out. I've unsuccessfully disputed 2 tickets.

No, it is not neccesary for the cop to put down the speed limit or speed of the driver. They can actually give you a ticket without having it on radar (just seeing you drive by fast) but with the radar they have a better chance of defending their claim if it goes to court, but they generally take the cop's word over that of the common citizen. The demerits are not transferable from BC to AB though so you dont have to worry about insurance going up as long as you pay the ticket (at least they didnt transfer last year when I got a ticket in BC)

Interesting fact:
Average citizen IQ = 100
Average cop IQ = 94

Which means cops are generally dumber than the average citizen, but they are the ones keeping our country safe and telling us what to do.

hey do me a favor, post a quote of where i was bitching about a ticket my friend got. cus i cant see it.....

anyway thanks to everyone else for the replies, ive never even seen a BC ticket so i dunno how things work there, but i know here in alberta, cop has to put the speed, limit, and the method he used to get u, cus its all considered evidence. same as if a cop makes a drug bust and say doesnt specify what drug and how much was found....

i know this is the case cus i had a fine refunded cus the cop who nailed me was nice enuff not to check off that he used radar to get my speed

ive had 5 tickets, fought all but the one that got thrown out and refunded, and got them all reduced in cash, and all but 2 points taken off, i guess it works alot different in calgary, they mainly just want your cash and screw the demerits

ah well like i said, thanx for the info guys

Game I was not saying that you were bitching, but I see a lot of bitching threads about tickets in many different forums, so I was just saying it in general.
