Texas Holdem

Anyone here play texas holdem? I've played a lot with friends, but never at the casino until tonight. Me and two buddies entered a tournament at the west edmonton mall casino. $30.00 buy in, 6 tables, 66 players. One friend got 55th, the other got 19th, I made it to the last table and ended up getting 5th. And won 120.00. Not too bad for a first time.

Thats awesome Drew. My best friends boyfriend goes to the Blue Heron to play poker in the pit. $100 buy in. One day he won $500 and then on Sunday night he lost $200. He was so mad he's still mad lol Because the guy pulled out pocket 3's and a pair of queens were face up on the table with and something else that gave him a full house ( i think cant remember her bf was mad and mumbled a lot lol) He had a straight in his hand.
We're goin back on Thursday night for my birthday but I dont think he's coming with us, he's still mad and doesn't have any money. I had bad luck with the roulette tables on Sunday night the 'dealers' sucked and the numbers bein pulled sucked. I lost $30. Had to kill time so my friend lent me $5 I hit the slot machines and won $35 lol

doh played my first time at the ca-ching-bling tonight....$30 buy-in 3/6 blinds. Being new there was some stuff going on that i was a lil rattled, like the if buddy wins two hands in a row, blinds are 6/12. I didn't have any luck. Always had potential with my hands, enough i had to check to see the flop but then no matter if i had j/q suited or a/10 off suit, i couldn't do anything. Be lucky if i lasted 30 min off $40 bucks.
Then i wondered over the BJ table...went from $20 to $80 by the end of hte shoe, Buddy said he was feeling good, so i threw $20 down first hand and lost on a hand i didn't hav emuch chance on...ended up standing on 16, dealer had 4/14 scored a 5 and ended with 19. Down to $60, **** it, i'm going all in! Dealer gave us both a's, me a,5 him a,3 i think. Dealer showing 5. I though twe were golden. Buddy hit, took a face card, dealer counted up to 21. Ouch, so walked out of the casino down $60, plus $15 to get into the brier, and $60 for beer, not to mention $40 for the virtual golf, earlier in the day. Expensive day all in all. DOH.

My buddies first time entering a tourny....$50 buy-in, 60+ players & the bugger won. I think he got around $1200 for winning. When it was over this guy sitting next to him on the last table pulled out his Canadian Poker Tour card, and the guy was fifth in Canada. He suggested my friend enter a tourny in Calgary...$330 buy-in....$80,000 for winning.
I say it was beginners luck because he has entered about 5 since then, and hasn't even reached the final table.
