Its hard to believe that A&B is carrying a line of speakers that they don't even have anything remotely capable of driving the speakers well
From what I have been able to dig up talking with the local rep: "They want to mass market their speakers. They were not making enough money selling them at higher end audio shops because they couldn't sell the volume." At least these shops had good equipment to drive them. I just can't see a $400 Yamaha or Marantz receiver driving a $4000 set of these speakers, or for that matter someone spending that much more on speakers.
Bad move for Totem.

I paid around $4000 including tax...and a free pair of the "beaks". I was using a Rotel...I think it was the RMB 1075 120 watts per channel 5 channel amp with a Marantz pre-amp...which I can't remember the model. Everything sounded pretty decent...then I mase my own speaker wires out of cat5 cable and all you non-believers out there can eat me 'cause EVERYONE that sat there for the A-B comparo heard a difference.
Now I'm running them off of a NAD C370 integrated amp coupled with the NAD C 541i CD player and WOW. What a difference. I replaced $3500-4000 worth of equipment with a $900 NAD and it blows them outta the water. It's 100 watts/channel. I've given up on surround sound now and reverted back to good 'ol stereo.
Room placement is a big issue with these speakers as well. You either have to have an understanding wife (like me) or be a bachelor. They're sitting 4 feet from the wall to the front of the speaker and about 6 feet apart and 3 feet from each side wall...pretty well right in everyones way in the middle of the livingroom.
