Who else travels for work?
I started a new job a few months ago and I am just starting to travel now for work. I hate it this week I was in Niagra falls monday and Atlanta Wed-Fri.
Got home on a friday night at 9:00 wanted to go out but just to tierd, eventualy got up enough energy for a night cap at a pub with some of the guys. If you travel for work what do you do at night? I go to the hotel bar and meet people or grab a six and hit the pool and hot tub for the night but it seems lonely to me? Is it just the first few trips befor you get use to being alone? i know people that travel all the time and love it, I am not sure its for me?

I hear ya. Nothing like a home cooked meal and your own bed.

When I travelled if I hadn't been to that city or didn't know it well, I would do the tourist thing and book one of those Gray(Grey) Bus Line tours of the city...always interesting and sometimes met some people to hang with. When I had a rental car I would rent one with a GPS and just start driving aimlessly ... always ended up in some strange neighbourhoods but never got worried because I could always punch in my hotel address and head back.

If your going to be regularly visiting a city - join a Bridge club or something - costs next to nothing - you can take lessons if need be - it is the best card game going - just think of all those lonely sexy old women you're going to meet

Don't forget room service if you're sick of eating at restaurants and getting stared at all night. Reminds me of thet Steve Martin movie - the lonely guy - the restaurant scene .

oh forgot - most hotels have high speed - get a laptop - online gaming/gambling etc.

good luck

Um, I don't know how to help you. Some people just fit into it. I know the hardest thing for me when I've got to bop around is eating. Once you get healthy eating habits down, the energy seems to just come naturally.

Aviod airline food! I won't touch it, and I drink only juice and water on flights.

I found that the first few trips are the hardest, after that you get into a rythem and find little habits that make it easier. Be careful, because after a while you can get complacent. I've left everything from my plane ticket, luggage, and even my passport at home. I take about 50 flight segments a year, and yes it's tiring.

I hope this helps,

Adam
